Each source list entry can be described as a primary, secondary or tertiary source. Once you have labeled sources, you can sort the list so that all of the primary sources are grouped together, followed by all of the secondary sources and then the tertiary sources.

This functionality is not available in a Starter-level project, to simplify the interface for younger students.

Apply descriptions to sources

Only one description can be applied to a source. If you apply the descriptioSecondary source to a source that was already labeled Primary source, the new description will replace the old one.

1. In the Tag column, next to the source, click the link "Add tag."

2. A popup will appear with three attributes, "Primary," "Secondary," and "Tertiary." Click your attribute.

3. After you make a selection, the attribute label will appear in the Tag column of your source list. In the image below, a secondary source label is applied.

Sort sources by their descriptions

On the Sort menu, select "Primary, secondary."

Sort order is maintained when you export your source list via the Print/Export option.

Remove descriptions from sources

Mouse-over the attribute label on your source reference. On the popup that appears, click "Clear."
