How to use the formatting guide at the top of each citation form

Overview: As you fill in data field-by-field, our citation guide allows you to observe how those individual source elements will be stitched together to form your completed citation.

Instructions


Step 1:

On the Sources screen, click New Source or click on an existing citation to edit. 


Step 2:

In the upper-right corner of the citation form click the blue Guide tab to pull down the citation formatting template.  



Step 3:

As you fill out the form, field by field, the Guide highlights in the corresponding element in the citation with a blue rectangle.


Step 4:

To close the Guide, click the blue Guide tab again.
