How do we set up EZproxy to work with NoodleTools?

Modified on Tue, Nov 18 at 9:43 AM

Your EZproxy configuration file should contain the following lines:

Title NoodleTools
URL https://my.noodletools.com/logon/signin
Host https://my.noodletools.com
Host www.noodletools.com
Domain noodletools.com
NeverProxy mystatic.noodletools.com
NeverProxy accounts.google.com
NeverProxy docs.google.com
NeverProxy cdnjs.cloudflare.com
HTTPMethod PUT
HTTPMethod DELETE
HTTPMethod OPTIONS
HTTPMethod PATCH

Important details and troubleshooting

Please make sure you are also running EZproxy under https (not http).

Do not add a "DJ" line (e.g., DJ noodletools.com) to the NoodleTools section of the configuration file. Doing so will cause database URLs that are typed into fields in NoodleTools (i.e., when you are citing a subscription database) to be overwritten by the proxy server URLs you have associated with those databases.

Be sure that you do not have "Option DomainCookieOnly" set in your configuration file anywhere. It will cause the integration with NoodleTools to fail.

Be sure that we have the external IP address of your proxy server on record, so that authentication into your organization's subscription is automatic.

What if I use SSO (Google, M365, Clever or ClassLink) to access NoodleTools, but I use a proxy to access other databases?

If you are accessing other databases (Gale, ProQuest, EBSCO, etc.) through a proxy, REMOVE any existing proxy config lines you might already have for NoodleTools and ADD just the following lines so that the "Export Citation to NoodleTools" functionality in those databases still works:

NeverProxy my.noodletools.com

NeverProxy mystatic.noodletools.com

NeverProxy cdnjs.cloudflare.com
